The Voice alum Dylan Carter was killed this weekend in a car accident in his native South Carolina.

The 24-year-old singer and realtor, who competed on multiple episodes of the NBC reality singing competition in 2023, was involved in a single-car accident at around 11.42pm Saturday on a Colleton County highway, authorities told TMZ.

The Daily News has reached out to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office for additional information.

Carter’s death, which was previously confirmed to NBC affiliate News 2, occurred two days before he was scheduled to perform at Monday’s Music On Main event in Moncks Corner.

The town’s official Facebook page announced Sunday afternoon that the event — which was supposed to feature Carter leading attendees in “a great night of live music, community, and good vibes”— had been cancelled.

Moncks Corner did not mention Carter’s death in that update, and limited who could comment on the post.

A minute later, Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. said he was “heartbroken” as he remembered Carter for “his kindness and charm” as well as his talents as “a gifted singer” who “frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events.”

“His absence will be deeply felt. To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period,” Hamilton wrote on Facebook.

“The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer he was our friend and we are deeply saddened.”

Carter was picked for Reba McEntire’s team on season 24 of The Voice, after a third and final audition won over all four coaches — also including Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani and John Legend — with a tribute to his recently deceased mum in the form of Whitney Houston’s I Look To You. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
