R&B star Ray J says his heart is only 25% functional and doctors have told him he has only months to live following a recent pneumonia hospitalisation and heart failure diagnosis.

The Sexy Can I singer initially shared news of his hospitalisation in an Instagram video last weekend.

“My heart’s only beating 25%, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said. “My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I’ve been in the hospital.”

However, in subsequent social media videos, Ray J – whose real name is William Raymond Norwood Jr – has claimed that doctors told him he may only have about a year left to live.

“2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” he said in one video. “That’s what they say.”

Ray J attributed his deteriorating heart health to drug and alcohol abuse, but said his family will be OK.

“I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro,” he told fans. “My baby mama gonna be straight, my kids gonna be straight. If they wanna spend all the money, they can spend it. I did my part here. And damn, when it’s all done, burn me, don’t bury me.”

He said he drank multiple bottles of alcohol in one night, feeling invincible, but that his hard-partying lifestyle eventually caught up to him.

“I thought I could handle everything, but I couldn’t… and it curved my time here,” Ray J added.

He also mentioned plans to travel to Haiti for treatment, claiming, “They got the cure.”

Ray J, 45, was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital on Jan 7 for pneumonia and chest pain, according to TMZ. He previously suffered from the illness in 2021 and “thought he could die,” the outlet reported.

In another video, he thanked his sister – Grammy winner Brandy – for paying his medical bills. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
