Hong Kong-born actor Vinci Wong has denied rumours that gambling was behind his financial troubles, stressing that he is not a habitual gambler and has not visited a casino in two decades.
During a livestream, the 55-year-old, who is currently based in Canada, said his bankruptcy was the result of failed investments and poor financial decisions.
“(The bankruptcy process) was a very long road, with many things happening and many people involved, which cannot be explained in a few words.
“I made many serious decisions which may have led to debt and ultimately bankruptcy,” he said.
Wong, who served as chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in 2018 and 2019, was declared bankrupt by the Hong Kong High Court in March last year.
The former TVB star had previously filed for bankruptcy in December 2024 after a credit firm sued him for allegedly failing to repay an unsecured loan of HK$2.8mil (RM1.4mil).
Wong also expressed regret over the trouble his financial problems had caused his family and said he felt sad about being unable to take care of them.
The Healing Hands II star added that he is determined to rebuild his life.
During his time dealing with bankruptcy, Wong revealed that he has hosted livestreams on TikTok and taken on part-time food delivery work.
The actor said he usually delivers the orders personally, hoping customers would leave higher tips if they were satisfied with his service.
Despite the difficulties, Wong said he remains open to new opportunities and will continue working to repay his debts as much as he can.
