Peter Mui Kai Ming, the eldest brother of late Hong Kong diva Anita Mui, has reportedly been excluded from his mother Tam Mei Kam’s funeral.
Speaking to HK01, Peter said he had “absolutely no idea” the ceremony had taken place quietly on the evening of Sept 19.
He also threatened to sue his nephew, who was overseeing the arrangements, for “murder” and said he would take legal action against the police over their handling of his mother’s belongings.
Tam passed away at the age of 102 on Aug 30.
Peter had previously announced that he would spend HK$1.5mil (RM779,831) on funeral arrangements and threatened to seek a court injunction to halt any cremation proceedings.
In a separate media interview, Peter became agitated while discussing his mother’s funeral and experienced a spike in blood pressure, prompting those around him to call an ambulance.
As paramedics tried to move him onto a stretcher, he appeared disoriented and repeatedly said: “Mum, please hurry. The devil is burning you!”
Peter was discharged at 4am the following day after medical examinations found no serious physical problems.
Meanwhile, a close friend of Tam told Hong Kong media that it had been her wish for the funeral to be handled quietly.
The friend added that Tam did not want to see Peter, which was why he was left in the dark about the arrangements.
