Hong Kong actor Ruco Chan has described his recent restaurant service complaint in Melaka as a “beautiful misunderstanding”.
Speaking at a beauty and wellness brand event in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, the 49-year-old stressed that the experience had not changed his fondness for the state.
The TVB star said he still enjoyed his time in Melaka and praised its picturesque scenery.
“Melaka is a very beautiful place with lots of beautiful cafes,” he said.
Chan also recalled a memorable experience during the trip, saying he and his wife – former Miss Hong Kong finalist Phoebe Sin – were recognised by staff at another restaurant and treated to a complimentary meal.
“It felt really nice,” he said, adding that the couple would definitely return to Melaka in the future.
Earlier this month, during a break from filming in Melaka, Chan decided to explore the state with Sin, 36, and visited a local restaurant.
The couple reportedly arrived at the restaurant at 5.45pm, only to be told they could not enter as it would not open until 6pm.
When they returned after the establishment opened, however, they were told that it was already fully booked.
Chan subsequently took to social media to express his frustration, saying they had not been allowed to make a reservation when they arrived earlier.
The incident subsequently drew mixed reactions online, with some netizens pointing out that the restaurant’s online listing stated that reservations were required.
Meanwhile, Chan and Sin also opened up about their family plans during the event.
The couple, who married in 2018, shared that their seven-year-old daughter Quinta hopes to have a younger sister.
However, Sin acknowledged that having another child is not entirely within their control.
“We hope she will accept whatever fate has in store,” she said.
The couple then joked that they might need to visit Malaysia more often to try their luck at expanding their family.
“Almost every family here seems to have two or three children, so we should come here for more holidays,” Chan said.
Sin added jokingly: “Maybe we need to rely on Malaysia’s good fortune and see if we can (have a child).”
