Hong Kong actress Carina Lau has opened up about her thoughts on getting older, revealing that she has begun to display symptoms of ageing.
In an episode of the Chinese variety programme The Blooming Journey 2 – which also features actresses Cecilia Cheung, Liu Xiaoqing and Ning Jing – Lau said she often finds herself repeating the same sentences and is becoming increasingly forgetful.
"Sometimes, I'll leave my room to look for something, only to forget what it was. I end up having to retrace my steps just to remember," said Lau, who is married to Hong Kong actor Tony Leung.
The actress added that these symptoms made her realise she was getting older and asked the guests present if they had encountered similar experiences.
In response, Liu, 71, offered Lau a different perspective, arguing that her forgetfulness wasn't a matter of age but a result of information overload in today's modern society.
"There's too much information to process in the world now, so our attention is easily interrupted.
"We have to keep up with current and upcoming work, so our brain automatically ignores things that aren't important," she said, noting that young people experience similar situations too.
Liu also reiterated that ageing isn't an issue, adding that it isn't something to lose sleep over.
