Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei recently revealed the extent of his commitment to his ex-fiancee Chris Wong, saying he spent "hundreds of thousands" of dollars on her legal fees.
In an interview with Hong Kong media, the 75-year-old disclosed that he had engaged two senior counsels and three junior lawyers to defend Wong's case.
For context, Wong – a Chinese national whose real name is Wang Qingxia – was sentenced in June 2024 by the Shatin Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to overstaying in Hong Kong and document falsification.
"I sacrificed my previous marriage, invested so much effort, and spent hundreds of thousands in legal fees for this relationship," Lee said.
It's worth noting that throughout her imprisonment, the TVB star remained vocal in his support for Wong expressing his love and even vowing to marry her upon her release.
He reportedly proposed to the 39-year-old during her time in jail last year.
Despite their years together, the pair – who publicised their romance in 2020 – split earlier in December after reports emerged that Wong was already married and had a teenage son in China.
When asked if Wong had taken a lot of money from him over the years, Lee replied: "I don't want to calculate how much I spent. Just the legal case alone was costly."
He also stressed that Wong wasn't after his money, noting that she never spent the cash he gave her on luxury items.
"I gave her tens of thousands at most for shopping and groceries, but she didn't buy any expensive handbags" he said.
