Taiwanese comedian Peng Chia Chia has been working tirelessly since declaring bankruptcy in 2020, having amassed NT$240mil (RM30.7mil) in debts from unsuccessful film ventures.

Even after mortgaging his house, the 69-year-old reportedly still owed NT$120mil (RM15.4mil).

While it's unclear how much Peng still has to settle, he has spent recent years taking on various business ventures.

Among them include selling kimchi, eggs and sweet potatoes, as well as hosting livestream sales.

More recently, the award-winning television host was seen selling fruits on a Douyin livestream.

Screenshots uploaded by a netizen on Threads showed Peng selling his goods on a livestream well past midnight.

Despite looking tired, he persevered and diligently continued promoting his fruits.

Peng's determination to settle his debts has earned him widespread respect, with many praising his efforts and honest work.

Others have also expressed sympathy at seeing a man in his late 60s working late into the night and urged him to take care of his health.

"He hasn't gone astray and is working hard. That deserves respect," one user commented.

Another wrote: "Wishing him all the best in overcoming this difficult situation."

"He looks exhausted. I hope he takes good care of his health," added a third.
