Malaysian actor and heartthrob Zizan Nin has addressed recent social media chatter regarding his changed appearance, stating that he embraces ageing gracefully.

The 53-year-old actor, whose real name is Azizan Nin, recently appeared in a TikTok audio clip that triggered a wave of reactions from netizens, many of whom claimed they barely recognised him.

Some users compared his current look to that of the late Jaafar On, while others jokingly likened him to a Tamil film hero or an "uncle" from India.

Comments ranged from surprise at his weight gain to disbelief at how much he has changed since his days as a younger, more polished screen idol.

In a post on the social media platform Threads, Zizan addressed the critiques directly.

“Many have criticised and belittled my appearance instead of paying attention to the information I shared in the podcast.

“My response is this ... I age gracefully, in line with my years. We grow old, not young.

“I hope to remain healthy, live a long life, and continue to be a useful member of society,” he wrote.

He added by urging his followers to prioritise personal growth over superficial aesthetics.

His response was met with widespread support from fans.

One user, @Tini_zubir, commented: “This look is fine … I always thought Zizan Nin was the macho type, but it turns out he’s really relaxed.”

Another follower, @yang.06, wrote: “Ageing is a privilege, not a flaw. Please focus on what’s being shared, not how someone looks. Don’t listen to the naysayers, bang (brother). Keep doing what you’re doing.”

Similarly, @kweenkeela added: “Don’t pay attention to all those comments, brother!”

Zizan Nin, who is also a film director, has long remained in the public eye for both his career and his personal life.

He has been single since his divorce in 2016 from newsreader Fazilah Hani Harun, whom he married in March 2010. - Sinar Daily
