Legendary actor George Clooney is advancing in age and he’s not denying it.

The 64-year-old movie star says growing older means he’s changing his focus when it comes to the roles he’ll take – and romantic leads are out.

‘I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did: ‘OK, well, I’m not kissing a girl anymore,’" Clooney tells The Daily Mail.

“When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, ‘Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I’m in shape. But in 25 years, I’m 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat, that’s a real number.’”

Clooney has starred in several romantic comedies and dramas during his career, opposite star actresses such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Lopez, Vera Farmiga and Julia Roberts.

He has been married to Amal Clooney, 47, since 2014. The couple have twin children, a son and daughter, born in 2017.

“Look, I’m (64) years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,” Clooney tells The Daily Mail. “That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”

Clooney’s most recent film, Jay Kelly, currently is streaming on Netflix. – Advance Local Media/Tribune News Service
