Director Alan Mak – the filmmaker behind the Infernal Affairs series and the Overheard trilogy – returns with Under Current, a crime thriller delving into corruption hidden beneath the polished facade of charitable organisations.

Inspired by real-life charity crime cases, Under Current brings together an impressive cast led by Aaron Kwok, Simon Yam, Francis Ng Chun-yu and Alex Fong.

The film also features Niki Chow and Kathy Yuen, with special appearances by industry veterans Nina Paw and Henry Fong.

One of the film’s biggest draws is the reunion of Kwok, 60, and 63-year-old Ng, who last worked together 25 years ago in the action film 2000 A.D.

In this new outing, Kwok plays a barrister while Ng portrays a seasoned police sergeant. Together, the unlikely duo team up to expose the darker forces manipulating charitable causes.

Under Current opens in cinemas nationwide on Dec 6.
