The funeral service for the late Hong Kong actor Benz Hui was held on Tuesday (Nov 18) morning, China Press reported.
It was attended by his wife Angeli Lung, daughter Charmaine, as well as singer George Lam, actress Samantha Ko and more.
On Monday, a memorial service was held at the Po Fook Memorial Hall in Tai Wai, Hong Kong, for family, friends and fans to pay their final respects.
Although the Hui family had previously requested that relatives and friends make donations instead of sending wreathes, the area outside the funeral hall was still filled with floral tributes from members of the entertainment industry.
Among those who sent flowers were actors Jackie Chan, Louis Koo, Joel Chan, Jessica Hsuan and Raymond Lam, along with many others.
In an interview with the media, Charmaine spoke about her father’s passing, describing it as a sudden and unreal experience for everyone.
The 28-year-old thanked the public for their support during this difficult time, saying: “Seeing everyone’s messages, I’m really grateful. Everyone loves my father so much.”
Charmaine, who's married to Singaporean banker Shane Sim, shared that she had promised Hui she would help him take care of her mother Angeli Lung and her family in his place.
She recalled her father's dedication to his craft, noting that he insisted on completing the filming for the 1984 action film Police Cadet ‘84 despite the passing of his grandparents and brother-in-law.
“His sense of responsibility and many other virtues are something I will carry in my heart forever,” she said.
When asked if she had any regrets about her father’s passing, Charmaine choked up and replied: “My father was a very responsible man who looked after me for many years. My first regret is not having enough time to be filial to him.”
Hui died in the early hours of Oct 28 due to multiple organ failure caused by cancer. He was 76.
Throughout his remarkable 55-year career, the beloved actor was admired not only for his talent but also for his optimism and wisdom in life.
