Brooklyn actor Jeremy Allen White, who's playing Bruce Springsteen on the big screen, finally got his high school diploma at the age of 34.

The Deliver Me From Nowhere star said on Oct 23 that he didn’t graduate from Manhattan’s Professional Performing Arts School because he spent his high school years slacking and wanting to be an actor.

White finally made the grade at Wednesday (Oct 22) night’s New York Film Festival, where his former drama teacher presented him with a diploma.

“I had him come because, you know, he’s a great teacher and we’ve remained friends, but he’s also a really, really big Bruce Springsteen fan,” White said on ABC’s Live With Kelly And Mark.”

At the end of the new film’s premiere, White said his teacher surprised him with a gift.

“And I open it up and it’s my high school diploma,” he said.

White’s trophy cabinet is pretty full. His work on the FX series The Bear has earned him three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmy Awards and a pair of Screen Actor Guild Awards.

There’s also buzz that his performance as Springsteen will result in Academy Award nomination. He’s also glad to finally have a high school diploma.

“So, I’ve got that in my hotel room now and, uh, it’s really nice,” he said. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
