Rumours surrounding the end of the marriage between celebrity couple Uqasha Senrose and Kamal Adli have finally been confirmed, as Uqasha revealed she filed for divorce on Oct 1.
The reason cited was that she had lost patience over ongoing marital issues and that there’s no more understanding between them
It was reported that trouble in their marriage began as early as April, with netizens noticing that Uqasha had been dropping hints about problems in their relationship. Their marriage became the subject of public speculation after both actors stopped following each other on Instagram.
According to Uqasha’s lawyer, Nurfarhana Abd Manaf, her client could no longer find mutual understanding in the marriage and was unable to continue maintaining the relationship.
“I can’t comment further as the matter will be brought before the judge,” said Nurfarhana.
“What we can say is that Uqasha has lost her patience and there is no longer any understanding between them. That’s all.
“But if fate brings them back together later, Alhamdulillah. That’s all Uqasha wishes to say,” she told mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.
Nurfarhana shared this after the first divorce proceeding at the Syariah Lower Court in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday (Oct 22) morning.
She also revealed that Kamal had not made any effort to reconcile with Uqasha during their marital crisis.
“As far as Uqasha has informed us, there have been no attempts from Kamal to make amends. I’m not sure if that's not the case,” she added.
When met by the media, Uqasha, whose full name is Nik Zaris Uqasha Nik Sen, 33, simply nodded in apparent agreement with her lawyer’s statement.
At the same time, she urged her husband to cooperate and attend the court proceedings related to their divorce.
She also expressed hope that Kamal, or Ahmad Kamal Ahmad Adli, 39, would respect the court and all parties involved to ensure a smooth legal process.
“I just hope he (Kamal) cooperates. Don’t be absent like this – I have my work too,” she said.
The divorce proceedings, which were scheduled to take place on Wednesday morning, had to be postponed to Oct 28 as Kamal was unable to attend due to work commitments.
It's reported that Uqasha arrived as early as 9am for the proceeding. Meanwhile, Kamal was represented by his lawyer, Abdul Hadi Mohamad Saleh.
“As the defendant was absent today, the case could not proceed and had to be postponed to a later date, which is next week, Oct 28,” added Nurfarhana.
For the record, Uqasha married Kamal on Nov 5, 2021, in Janda Baik, Pahang.
The couple share a 10-month-old daughter, Hawra Uqaira.
