Singaporean actor Desmond Tan and his wife have welcomed their second child, a boy.

The 39-year-old Mediacorp artiste announced that “Didi (Chinese for younger brother) is here” via Instagram on Sept 23.

“Now we are four! It’s gonna be a handful, but I’m loving it.

“My heart had already known a love so profound when I became a father for the first time that I wondered if there was room for more,” he wrote in the post, which includes a photo of him cradling the newborn, who weighs about 3.5kg.

“Then you arrived and showed me that a heart doesn’t divide... it multiplies! Welcome to the world, my son!”

Tan married his university sweetheart, whose identity has never been disclosed, after a 12-year courtship in 2021 in a destination wedding held at a chateau in France. Their daughter was born in March 2024.

The carousel of images on Instagram also show the trio’s hands holding the boy’s, as well as handwritten cards and a “Lil Bro” onesie for the newest member of the family.

In August, the actor – who won his ninth Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes award at the Star Awards in July – announced on his birthday he had achieved his dream of owning a landed home for his growing brood.

Tan uploaded a photo of himself in front of his new two-storey house with lush green grass in front of it.

“There’s a lot of work ahead for this new place,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m excited to transform this space into something truly special.” – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
