Hong Kong actor Benjamin Yeung has died. He was 43.

In a statement posted on social media, Yeung’s brother revealed that he passed away peacefully at 4.20am on Aug 11, with his family and close friends by his side.

His cause of death has not been disclosed at the time of writing.

“He left this world without pain, in serenity,” the statement read.

The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to those who had cared for and supported Yeung throughout his life, adding that he was blessed to have their love and companionship – gifts they described as the most precious part of his journey.

“Now, he is free from all suffering and has returned to the embrace of our father and Heavenly Father, where he has found eternal peace,” the statement continued.

Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. The family has also requested the public’s understanding and support during this difficult time.

“May my brother rest in peace, and may all who loved him hold onto his warm smile in their hearts,” the statement concluded.

According to Hong Kong news portal HK01, Yeung first got a taste of showbiz in 1997 when he joined – and won – a Leon Lai impersonation contest.

He later signed with talent management agency Emperor Entertainment Group in the 2000s and appeared in an advertisement alongside popular artiste Joey Yeung.

After parting ways with the label, Yeung turned to dancing and formed the dance group Bro5.

Following the group’s disbandment, he returned to acting and found success in the 2017 film 29+1 – an adaptation of director Kearen Pang's eponymous one-woman show.
