Hong Kong singer Josie Ho, the daughter of the late Macau casino king Stanley Ho, has put her career on hold to care for her husband, actor Conroy Chan, amid a resurgence of health issues.
Chan, 52, nearly died in 2022 after suffering a ruptured aorta that caused massive internal bleeding.
While he had been gradually returning to the public eye over the past six months as his condition improved, his health has recently taken an unexpected turn, and he now requires surgery in the United States.
In a statement, Josie – who married Chan in November 2003 – announced the cancellation of her upcoming performance at a concert in Taitung, Taiwan, scheduled for Aug 10.
“My husband of 21 years experienced sudden discomfort recently, and after a medical evaluation, the doctor advised immediate surgery in the US.
“As his wife, I must be by his side throughout the process. All necessary medical plans have been arranged,” the 50-year-old said.
Chan disclosed in December last year that he had two surgeries lined up – a minor one in January, and a major procedure involving the aorta near his heart.
At the time, doctors advised postponing the major operation unless absolutely necessary, stressing the importance of maintaining a stable heartbeat.
By March, Chan appeared visibly energetic at a press conference and shared that he no longer needed to travel to the US for treatment.
Although he was absent from another press event earlier this month, it’s said that his absence was due to work commitments.
