Andy Lau’s enduring star power isn’t just about his music and acting – it’s about how he connects with fans.
In celebration of Chinese New Year, the Cantopop singer went the extra mile by personally handing out angpow packets at exclusive fan club gatherings organised by Andy World.
According to Hong Kong media, the 63-year-old Heavenly King attended these events after wrapping up his sold-out 20-show concert series, Today ... Is The Day, at the Hong Kong Coliseum, which ran from December to January.
A lucky fan who attended one such event took to social media to share their excitement – not only did they receive one angpow from Lau, but two.
Posting a photo of the red envelopes, the fan wrote: "Only this man could make me travel to Hong Kong and back in a day for just HK$20 (about RM11)."
This sparked debate online, with netizens questioning whether the total amount was HK$20 or HK$20 per packet.
But true fans were quick to point out that the value wasn’t in the money – it was in the moment.
Getting a chance to meet Lau, chat with him, and receive a personal gift from the superstar was a “priceless” experience.
One netizen summed it up best: "It’s not about the money – it’s about holding something with Andy Lau’s warmth, fingerprints, and maybe even a bit of sweat."
