Malaysian actress and television presenter Jasmine Suraya Chin has expressed concerns over the wildfires in Los Angeles, which have claimed the homes of several celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore and Billy Crystal.

On Thursday (Jan 9), Chin, who’s currently residing in Los Angeles, uploaded a short video on Instagram showing the raging flames from her rooftop.

The 35-year-old, best known for her performance in the 2018 action film Paskal, said she had packed her essential belongings in case she needed to evacuate.

“This is Runyon Canyon. Literally 10 minutes drive from where I live. Went up to the rooftop just to check on the situation. Didn’t know this would happen right in front of my face,” she captioned her post.

Chin also reposted a video of the animals affected by the fire in her Instagram Story, alongside a caption that said: “Heartbreaking to see all the animals suffering in this time of crisis.”

The Kuching-born celebrity further urged everyone to stay safe in a separate Instagram Story.

Many fans and celebrities, including actresses Sazzy Falak, Jojo Goh and Dynas Mokhtar, have since shared their well wishes with Chin.

According to the Associated Press, officials said at least 70,000 residents were under evacuation orders and nearly 30,000 structures were at risk.

The fires have ravaged Temescal Canyon, a popular hiking spot nestled among neighbourhoods of multimillion-dollar homes.

It has also destroyed parts of Palisades Charter High School, which has been featured in Hollywood productions such as Carrie, Freaky Friday and Teen Wolf.

Five lives have been claimed by the fire at press time.
