Hong Kong actress Lily Chung has invested a six-figure sum in a 6,000 sq ft food court in Kuala Lumpur, which she launched with a friend a few months ago.

In a recent interview with China Press, Chung, who has experience in the catering industry, said the key feature of her food court is that it operates for nearly 24 hours.

“It's open from morning until 4am, so there’s breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. There are several five-star hotels nearby too,” the 55-year-old said.

The former TVB star, married to Hong Kong-based Singaporean actor Hugo Ng, added that her food court draws inspiration from Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, known for its wide range of street food.

“Our place is a mini city that never sleeps, a mini Jalan Alor. We hope it not only attracts locals but also travellers from around the world to taste Malaysian cuisine,” she said.

Visitors to the food court can occasionally find Chung taking orders, cleaning, greeting customers and even cooking in the kitchen.

Though it may seem tiring, Chung, who represented Hong Kong in the 1987 Miss Universe pageant, reiterated that she finds her work enjoyable.

“I believe I have talent in cooking. There are no set hours (for my work). I just help out whenever I have time,” she added.

In May 2023, Chung and her husband Ng, 65, opened a kopitiam at a mall in KL.

The actress said at the time that Malaysian food has always held a special place in her heart.
