Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation & Exhibition will be held in Malaysia from Sept 20 to Oct 3.
Seven Hong Kong films will be screened during this period starting with Ricky Ko's Out Of The Shadow, which will launch the event on Sept 20 at GSC The Starling Mall, in Petaling Jaya.
Other titles are Chow Kam Wing’s For Alice, Ho Miu Ki's Love Lies, Andy Lo’s Once In A Blue Moon, Sunny Lau's One Night At School, Kwan Man Hin's The Remnant and Dickson Leung's YUM Investigation.
In conjunction with the screening, four HK talents will be making their way to Malaysia.
The attendees are actress Kay Tse from Out Of The Shadow, director Kwan Man Hin and actor Ling Man Lung from The Remnant, as well as director Dickson Leung from YUM Investigation.
Organised by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), the event aims to provide a platform for HK filmmakers to engage with Asian film industry and foster future collaboration. Since it started, the exhibition has travelled to Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and Phnom Penh. This is its second stop to Malaysia.
Its current stop is in collaboration with local cinema operator, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and film distributor GSC Movies (GSCM).
After the first movie screening on Sept 20, subsequent screenings will be on Sept 21, Sept 22, Sept 28 and Sept 29 at GSC The Starling Mall. Tickets are priced at RM5 with screenings at 2.30pm and 5.30pm.
Fans can also start checking out the exhibition titled From Idea To Icon: Crafting the Hong Kong Cinema, open to public for free from Sept 21 to Oct 3 at GSC The Starling Mall from noon to 9pm.
Some of the highlights at this exhibition will be a giant script installation art of Love Lies; an edited action scene clips from Out Of The Shadow; and storyboard scripts and special effects comparison clips from YUM Investigation.
