Ben Affleck has no illusions that he and Jennifer Lopez can repair their rocky marriage, nor does he want to, insiders said this week.

The 51-year-old Oscar winner reportedly “knows the marriage is done” and, while he’ll “always care for Jen ... he wants to focus on himself,” a source told Us Weekly.

The insider added that Affleck is “in a better mindset” after closing on his new US$20.5mil Pacific Palisades estate on July 24 — the same day Lopez rang in her 55th birthday in the Hamptons.

Now, sources say Affleck “is pushing forward.”

As most onlookers suspected, the move marked “the closure of the relationship,” said an Affleck source, who added that while the couple are estranged, they remain in communication.

It seems that the Gone Girl star was the one who wanted out of the relationship, which began in the early aughts, only for the pair to have a very public engagement followed by a breakup. Affleck and Lopez ultimately reconciled in 2021 and wed the following summer.

Much like their previous relationship, Affleck and Lopez appear to be on “different pages” and “don’t have a lot of common ground,” a second source told Us Weekly, while a third said the latest breakup is “heartbreaking” to the Bronx-born pop star.

“In a perfect world, Jen would like to make it work with Ben,” they said, noting she “tried very hard” to do just that.

Sources confirmed to the outlet that Affleck and the Love Don’t Cost A Thing singer have a prenup with certain conditions in place and that they hope, above all else, “to remain amicable.”

A source said that neither Affleck nor Lopez “want this to be dragged out and contentious.”

The pair — who have continued to sport their wedding rings as they remain mum on their relationship — quietly put their US$60mil Beverly Hills mansion up for sale in June, before listing it publicly in mid-July.

Despite speculation that their differing approaches to fame fueled much of their marital tensions, a source told People last month that the couple have “deeper issues.”
