Taiwanese actress Joe Chen has refuted claims that she's being two-faced towards her husband, Malaysian artist Alan Chen.
In a recent post on Xiaohongshu, Joe revealed that when searching her own name on the platform, she would encounter comments accusing her of treating Alan poorly at first and only changing her attitude after visiting his mansion in Malaysia.
Responding to the allegations, the 44-year-old wrote: "Aren't some netizens relying only on being sour grapes to find life's simple pleasures?"
She added: "I have been making money on my own for a long time now. Even though I look young, I have seen the world."
In her post, Joe acknowledged passionate fans who have come to her defence by pointing out her capability to afford expensive bags.
However, there have been others who defended the actress at the expense of Alan, claiming that the gifts he buy for her are cheap.
Speaking up for her husband, Joe said she regards Alan, 34, and his family as a part of her family.
She also considers herself lucky to marry into such a loving and humble household. The couple registered their marriage in Taipei on March 31, 2022.
"The most expensive gift on this earth is mutual tolerance, appreciation and love. The biggest mansion in this universe lies in the heart of a loved one, where you can be whatever you want to be," she wrote.
This isn't the first time Joe has shut down negative talks surrounding her love life with Alan.
In 2019, she dismissed claims that their relationship was fake after confirming their romance following the finale of the dating show Meeting Mr Right 2.
She said at the time that she went on the show not for money but to find love.
