One of Minnesota’s most legendary bands, Morris Day and the Time, will join the ranks of Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice and Poison’s Bret Michaels to perform at President Donald Trump’s America 250 celebrations at the National Mall this summer.
The Jungle Love and Cool hitmakers will test their cool appearing at the Great American State Fair concert series in Washington, DC, on June 27, part of a 16-day celebration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July Fourth.
All of the artistes in the lineup announced Wednesday will perform for free in the shadow of a 110-foot Ferris wheel amid other Trump-mandated activities spread across the mall between the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument. The series will kick off June 25 with country singer Martina McBride.
Other acts set to perform at the Great American State Fair include Flo Rida, the Commodores and Young MC and C+C Music Factory. The latter act is part of this summer’s I Love the ‘90s Tour lineup along with Vanilla Ice and Milli Vanilli, the duo famously derailed by a lipsyncing scandal in 1990 and then again by co-founder Rob Pilatus’ death in 1998. – The Minnesota Star Tribune/Tribune News Service
