Shila Amzah is set to get married this weekend (August) to Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli, 25, better known as Ubai.

However, the 32-year-old singer is saddened that her future mother-in-law won’t be there to witness the ceremony as she passed away on Sunday (July 30), just six days before the wedding is set to take place.

The artiste shared this in a series of heartfelt messages via Instagram on Monday.

Ubai’s mother – Rohani Jamal – passed away as her health suddenly deteriorated after undergoing five rounds of radiotherapy on July 24. She was 71 years old.

She had been diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer and had undergone surgery in January.

On July 8, Rohani was admitted to University Malaya Medical Centre due to uterine bleeding.

Since then, Shila had joined Ubai’s family in visiting Rohani while the latter was receiving treatment at the hospital.

In a video featuring a number of photographs and messages, Shila shared of her moments with her future mother-in-law, describing her as a very kind person who treated her like her own daughter even before officially becoming her daughter-in-law.

Shila also said that Rohani, who had lost a child two months prior, was also a strong person who faced the trials of life with resilience and had given her many good advices.

One of the final advices from her was to continue with the wedding and not to postpone it.

Shila wrote what was on her mind at the time: “The wedding is only six days away. How do I stay strong, mum?

“Ubai and I are not strong. On the way to the hospital every day, we are crying in the car. We go up to your room and share a good laugh with you. Then, on the way back, we end up crying again. That had been our routine for a month.”

Shila added: “I love you mum, and will miss you tremendously.”

Apparently, Rohani was looking forward to her son's wedding and even helped prepare the wedding gifts for the occasion.

Shila expressed her gratitude for having known a wonderful future mother-in-law, even if it was just for a brief moment. Shila and Ubai got engaged in May.
