Taiwanese actress Chen Shufang, 83, recently appeared in a variety show where she opened up about her life.

During the show, the award-winning actress revealed that her doctor diagnosed her with arrhythmia (a condition whereby one’s heartbeat is irregular) after a physical examination.

“That was the first time in my life I used my health insurance card. Even the doctor was shocked when he knew about it,” she said.

Chen went on to explain how the doctor recommended she wore a heart rate monitor to detect irregularities in her heartbeat. Two weeks later, Chen woke up horrified after discovering that her heart stopped for 14 seconds in the middle of the night.

After informing the hospital what had transpired, they quickly told her to return to the hospital and advised her to install a cardiac pacemaker. The Little Big Women actress shared that she even made arrangements with a friend who was working in a funeral home.

“I gave my friend some money and told them to use it to cover my funeral costs once I’m gone,” she explained.

Chen assured everyone that she is doing better now. For her, living her life to the fullest is what matters.

“My philosophy is that people only have three days in life. Yesterday, I was happy. Today, I am happy. Tomorrow, I will be happy,” she said.
