Anne Heche was trapped inside a burning Los Angeles home for about 45 minute after firefighters arrived at last month’s fiery car crash that led to the actress’ death, according to newly obtained records.

It took at least 20 minutes before the rescue workers could access her car and at least 20 more before the car could be removed from the home, according to recordings from the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) as well as radio communications obtained by NBC Los Angeles.

LAFD Deputy Chief Richard Fields told NBC that there were “heavy smoke conditions, heavy fire conditions, which makes it very difficult for us to just see each other on the inside of working structure fire.”

The Daytime Emmy-winning Another World actress collided into the two-story Mar Vista residence on the morning of Aug 5 after fleeing the scene of an apartment complex garage she’d crashed into earlier that day. She was hospitalised.

She sustained severe burns and was intubated and her rep said days later that she was “in extreme critical condition” and comatose. She was later found to have had cocaine but no alcohol in her system.

Heche, who was 53, was taken off life support on Aug 14, two days after being declared legally dead due to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, as well as a broken sternum.

In addition to her three-year relationship with Ellen DeGeneres which started in the late 1990s, Heche was known for roles in Donnie Brasco, Six Days Seven Nights, and the remake of Psycho. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
