Malaysian musician Haron Amat died from leukemia today (April 4). He was 55.
Haron's daughter Hana Nafisah Haron confirmed the news of his death to a Malay news portal.
According to Hana, her father never suffered from any chronic sickness but in the last couple of months, he had fallen ill and had rash on his body.
"The doctor diagnosed that my father had leukemia. He was then admitted into the intensive care unit on March 3.
"After he was discharged, he started chemotherapy," Hana told Berita Harian online. However, Haron's condition worsened and was admitted to the hospital again.
The family was informed of his passing this morning, according to Hana.
BPR was formed in Johor in 1985 and made a name for itself in the local music scene in the mid 1980s and early 1990s. The group is known for rock tunes such as Dari Sinar Mata and Dendam Seusia Dunia.
Haron joined the group in 1988 after the departure of one of its original members. The band has released seven albums.
Haron leaves behind his wife and four children.
