‘Lelaki Teragung’ lyricist Iman Imran dies at 47 from cancer

Lyricist and entertainment journalist Iman Imran died at his home in Semenyih on Wednesday (March 30) due to cancer.

He was 47 years old.

The news of his passing was confirmed by a friend to mStar, The Star’s Malay language portal.

Also known as Rudy Imran Shamsudin to his peers, he had been battling cancer for a few years.

He’s credited for the lyrics of the 2016 hit song Lelaki Teragung performed by Dayang Nurfaizah, which was named as the best song at the Anugerah Juara Lagu in 2017.

Rudy was also an entertainment journalist who had worked at two Malay-language newspapers.

Having covered the industry for more than 25 years, Rudy was a respected figure among artistes and fellow journalists.

He had also ventured into producing and directing recently.
