The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. That's the case for Canadian Chinese beauty Christy Chung whose eldest daughter Yasmine Ross has decided to follow in the actress' footsteps in participating in a beauty pageant.
Ross, 23, was placed first runner-up at the 2021 Miss Chinese Vancouver pageant last week.
Mama Chung was crowned Miss Chinese Montreal in 1992 and a year later she clinched the Miss Chinese International in 1993. That kick-started Chung's career as an actress in Hong Kong.
“The pageant allowed me to learn many things, but my biggest takeaway is that I now understand myself better,” Ross told Hong Kong media after the pageant. She's based in Canada and graduated in film from University of British Columbia. Apart from English, Ross speaks fluent Mandarin and French.
Ross is Chung's eldest daughter from her first marriage to a British businessman. The 51-year-old actress is currently married to Chinese actor Shawn Zhang, 39.
Chung said she is supportive of her daughter's decision should she wants to pursue a career in showbiz.
“I'll support whatever decision she makes. She likes to sing, dance and act ... Basically, whatever she wants to do is fine. What’s most important is that she’s happy," Chung was quoted saying.
