K-drama actor Song Joong-ki mourns passing of his grandmother

Korean actor Song Joong-ki’s grandmother passed away on Sunday (Nov 28), reported a media outlet.

Her funeral was held on Tuesday (Nov 30) with only close family present, added the report.

The Vincenzo actor – who is busy preparing for his comeback to the small-screen with new K-drama The Youngest Son Of The Chaebol Family – is said to have a close relationship with his family.

In a previous interview, the 36-year-old star revealed that he would rent a resort so he could vacation with his family. This is because he places great importance in maintaining close contact with the members of his family.

The sad news comes a few days after Song was recognised at two different award ceremonies in South Korea.

On Nov 26, Song attended the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards where he won the Popular Star Award. That win arrived after he received the Best Actor award at the 26th Chunsa International Film Festival for the sci-fi film Space Sweepers on Nov 19.
