Chinese host Wang Han recently got into a bit of trouble with netizens for what he said in an episode of the reality series A Store Of Hope, reported a news portal.

The series has three celebrities – Wang Han, Yang Di and Shen Meng Chen – working together at managing a small convenience store at a village.

In this particular episode, Wang and Yang were supposed to deliver packages to the residents.

As it was raining at the time, they were given transparent umbrellas by the production team.

According to the article, Wang said this when he got the umbrella: “I really don't like this sort of umbrella. Sometimes I would rather get wet in the rain than to use this. It is too feminine.”

Although he used it for a while, he later just held the umbrella while making the deliveries with Yang.

Netizens criticised Wang's comment saying he was being “disrespectful to women” and a "chauvinist". Some also wondered as to how Wang concluded that such umbrellas are feminine.

A few netizens pointed out the obvious – that the transparent umbrella does not only protect the star from the rain, but it allows the production team to film Wang without having his face covered.
