A stellar lineup of American, South Korean, Hong Kong and local stars will be taking centrestage at Astro's 25th anniversary live virtual concert on Sept 25.
Among those participating on the show include the likes of two-time Grammy winner Jason Mraz, Running Man star Kim Jong-kook, Hong Kong boy band Mirror, and homegrown talents such as Ella, Jaclyn Victor, Harith Iskander, Dayang Nurfaizah, Anuar Zain and many others.
Agnes Rozario, director of content at Astro, announced during a press conference on Monday (Sept 13) that the concert is themed "Better Together".
"Amidst all that is happening around the world today, we firmly believe that we are all stronger and better together,” she said.
Rozario hopes the concert will uplift spirits of Malaysians who are not able to enjoy live concerts just yet. She added that putting together a virtual show wasn't an easy feat "but we were determined to do this because it’s our 25th year and we really wanted to give a big thank you and do something for our customers”.
Several local stars took the time to pop by the press conference for a chat.
When asked how she feels about performing at a virtual concert, Malaysian Idol winner Jaclyn Victor expressed her frustration. “I don’t like it at all! I honestly hate it. There is nothing like actually singing in front of a live audience,” she said. Despite not liking the situation, she was still thankful to be able to participate on the upcoming virtual show.
Dayang Nurfaizah, another star who will be making an appearance, teased that her performance will be something different as she is set to sing new tunes. "(I will be performing) songs that no one has heard yet, so don’t miss it!” Dayang said.
The three-hour concert will kick off at 8.30pm on Sept 25 and can be viewed on Astro 25 (Ch 100) and on Astro Go.
