Due to the misinformation he received from the hospital on the status of his wife’s condition – who is being treated at the intensive care unit at Kuala Lumpur Hospital for Covid-19 – actor Badrol Shah is now accused of being an attention seeker.
But the fact of the matter is Badrol, 39, himself is traumatised with being wrongly informed that his wife had died on Tuesday (Aug 10) when she had been in critical condition.
As of the writing of this article, the doctors told Badrol that Farah Sheila Mazlan is still alive but is in critical condition. She was put in an induced coma on Aug 2.
MStar – The Star’s Malay portal – had spoken to the actor on Tuesday, and StarLifestyle reported on Wednesday that Farah had passed away due to the Covid-19 Delta variant.
In today’s interview (Aug 12), Badrol told mStar: “I am truly traumatised by what had happened ... the first call I got on Tuesday I was told my wife had died, then at night I got another call informing me that she’s in critical condition.
“I want to assert here that I didn’t make up the story as netizens are accusing me of doing on social media. They said I am doing this just to gain sympathy.
“I have never asked for sympathy or any contributions from anyone ... this all happened because of misunderstanding."
Despite the shock, the Busut Bonang actor doesn’t blame the doctors as he understands the medical staff have a lot on their plate as there are so many Covid-19 patients to attend to.
“I have just come back from the hospital (the morning of Aug 12) and have spoken to the unit’s chief doctor who said they provided the wrong information and apologised over what happened.
“I don’t blame them as they are probably tired having to handle so many Covid-19 cases."
Nonetheless, the incident has distressed not only himself, but his children as well as his wife’s parents.
“My mother-in-law fainted when she heard the news.
“My children are understandably confused and I have explained to them the best I can. I've told them to pray for their mother's recovery and that she gets better soon.”
Badrol and Farah have four children, a two-year-old from their marriage, and three more daughters from Farah’s first marriage – whose ages are between 12 and seven.
