Actress-singer Cecilia Cheung, who took a step back from acting in the early 2010s, is making a comeback!

Cheung, 40, has joined the second season of Chinese reality series Sisters Who Make Waves which sees 30 women – all established artistes in their own right – compete in various singing and dancing challenges on a weekly basis.

Fellow Hong Konger, pop sensation Joey Yung, 40, is also part of the line-up.

At the end of the competition, five women will be chosen to make their debut as a girl group.

The show has been lauded for its representation of women over 30 in the media.

The first season saw Hong Kong stars like Christy Chung and Adia Chan, both aged 50, in action. The oldest contender in Season Two is popular Chinese singer Na Ying, 53.

In a recent episode, Cheung said she "feels happy" when netizens say she is outdated: “You say I’m passe, that means I was once in demand. So I think people should work hard.

"Be yourself when the time is wrong, and seize opportunities when the time is right”.
