Hong Kong actress Nancy Wu leaves TVB after 18 years

Nancy Wu (front), a fixture in TVB dramas, has joined Shaw Brothers.

Hong Kong actress Nancy Wu Ting-yan, who first came into the spotlight after starring in 2003's hit TVB drama Triumph In The Skies, will be leaving the popular broadcaster after nearly two decades.

The 39-year-old broke the news on Instagram (translation by jaynestars.com): "Thank you to all the artistes and co-workers I have met throughout my 18 years... I appreciate having all of your support through my career’s highs and lows. My journey has been so memorable. In the following year, I will be bringing the audience new content in a different format. Please continue to support me!”

The actress, who's best known for her work in 2015's Ghost Of Relativity and 2016's A Fist Within Four Walls, also shared what's next for her:

"I am thankful for all the good people and good things that I have encountered along the way. They will accompany me as I welcome a new chapter in my life. Starting today, I will officially begin my collaboration with Shaw Brothers."

However, TVB fans need not despair. As TVB is a subsidiary of Shaw Brothers, artistes signed to Shaw Brothers could appear on TVB dramas.

For example, Wu will appear on the upcoming TVB series, Big White Duel 2.
