As with all activities involving a large crowd, this year's Malaysia Film Festival (FFM31) has been postponed.

The annual event, which celebrates the best in the Malaysia film industry, was scheduled to take place from April 9 to 18 at two main locations, in Klang Valley and Melaka.

Organiser National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) stated in a press release that it expects the event to still happen this year, but at a later date.

During a press conference in January announcing FFM31, Finas chairman, Datuk Hans Isaac said he expected some 67 films to be nominated in 32 categories. At that point, filmmakers and production houses were invited to submit their nominations.

Among the 2019 films that were expected to be nominated include Misteri Dilaila, Pusaka, Fly By Night, BoBoiBoy Movie 2, Sangkar, Wira, Geran, Suatu Ketika, Ennaval, Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal and Ejen Ali The Movie.
