The first agricultural museum in Kelantan, Muzium Pertanian, is expected to be operational in June this year.
It will introduce and preserve the state’s heritage for future generations.
Kelantan State Museum Corporation chairman Zamakshari Muhamad said the museum, located in the old Tumpat District Council building, has great potential to be utilised as it showcases agricultural history, in addition to serving as an educational and interaction centre for the community.
A site visit was held recently to inspect the physical condition of the building and the suitability of the space to be developed.
“We have long dreamed of an agricultural museum in Kelantan, and we expect this museum to open in the middle of 2026,” he said.
Zamakshari said the implementation of this agricultural museum will also be done in stages to ensure it becomes a space for knowledge and heritage, and will be a new attraction that benefits the local community and tourists.
“As we are all aware, agriculture has been the foundation of the people’s lives in this state since ancient times, so much of the history, traditional tools, methods, and stories of farmers that have been recorded need to be preserved and introduced to future generations.
“This agricultural museum will be a symbol of appreciation for the contributions of the agricultural sector to the development of the state of Kelantan,” he added. – Bernama
