Malaysians are in for a delightful cultural treat. Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) has opened the touring exhibition I Love Sushi in Kuala Lumpur, a showcase of Japan’s most iconic dish that goes beyond taste to a celebration of history, art, and tradition.

Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, Urban Museum Kuala Lumpur (UR-MU), and Sushi Hibiki, this exhibition - free admission - reimagines sushi as a cultural masterpiece, one that tells the story of Japan’s creativity, craftsmanship, and deep respect for nature’s bounty.

I Love Sushi, which was launched yesterday, will be showing at UR-MU (Urban Museum Kuala Lumpur) @ The Toffee, Jalan Raja Chulan until Dec 31.

Visitors can immerse themselves in captivating visuals, interactive displays, and digital experiences that trace the evolution of sushi from a centuries-old preservation method to the refined nigiri-zushi of the Edo period and the modern-day global sensation it has become today.

Designed to engage both the eyes and the palate, I Love Sushi promises a multisensory experience - at at UR-MU's The Project Room, Level 4 - complete with a virtual reality "sushi shop,” educational screenings, and detailed exhibits showcasing the precision and artistry behind every roll and slice.

Part of a decade-long world tour that began in 2022, I Love Sushi serves as a bridge of cultural exchange, reminding audiences that food, much like art, has the power to connect people across borders.

After its debut here, the exhibition will travel to Terengganu and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, for sushi lovers and cultural enthusiasts across Malaysia to get a taste of Japan’s timeless culinary story. - Bernama
