Fit for a Titan: A 13.7kg manga volume is set to break world record

Everything is big about Attack On Titan, as manga fans will know.

The Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama follows the last of humanity, who live inside enormous walls to protect themselves from gigantic creatures called Titans who devour humans on sight.

Now, there will be a titan-sized manga compilation available soon.

Publisher Kodansha is releasing a jumbo size manga that compiles the first and second instalments of Attack On Titan.

Tipping the scales at a whopping 13.7kg, the titan-sized Attack On Titan measures 101cm in length and 71.5cm in width.

It is larger than the current Guinness World Records holder for largest comic book, the Brazilian comic Turma da Monica, created by Mauricio de Sousa Producoes and published by Panini Brasil.

This super-sized manga is meant to fit the hands of the giant monsters in this series. More specifically, it is scaled for protagonist Eren when he morphs into his 15m-tall Attack Titan form.

The Attack On Titan manga was first released in September 2009. After running for almost 12 years, the series will draw to a close next month with its final chapter in the April 9 issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.

It is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation.

The anime TV series adaptation is currently in its fourth and final season.

The 96-page giant volume of Attack On Titan is priced at 150,000 yen (RM5,650), tax not included. A limited 100 copies will be printed.

Orders will be open from March 6 at the Kodansha Online Store.
