Taste of Italian coastline comes to KL city centre

Risotto ai Frutti di Mare, a Sicilian-inspired seafood risotto.

The rustic charm of the Italian coast has arrived in the heart of the capital as Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur introduces “Italian Riviera at Aqua”, running until Sept 30.

Set against the lush greenery of KLCC Park and the city’s striking skyline, Aqua Restaurant and Bar provides a relaxed setting for after-work gatherings and social evenings.

Drawing inspiration from seaside towns, vibrant markets and rich culinary traditions of the Italian Riviera, the curated menu features regional specialities crafted for sharing.

The journey opens with appetisers that capture the freshness and simplicity synonymous with Italian coastal dining.

Highlights include the Bocconcini Bruschetta, featuring sourdough topped with cherry tomatoes, basil and balsamic reduction and the classic Calamari Fritti served with garlic aioli.

Diners can also try its Charcuterie Board packed with Italian cured meats, cheeses and condiments.

Hearty main courses showcase distinct regional flavours, including Insalata Estiva - a Tuscan-style salad combining tender marinated chicken breast with fennel, walnuts, avocado, roasted grapes and blue cheese, finished with a balsamic dressing.

Also featured on the menu is Sicilian-Style Cold Soup – a chilled zucchini and tomato soup topped with sweet-tart pomegranate.

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca is a Neapolitan classic with cherry tomatoes, anchovies, Kalamata olives, capers and fresh basil.

Risotto ai Frutti di Mare is a Sicilian-inspired seafood risotto prepared with Arborio rice, assorted seafood, cherry tomatoes, lemon and Parmesan cheese.

To wrap up the meal, a trio of classic Italian desserts offer a sweet finish.

Choices include Sorbetto al Limone e Basilico, a bright lemon and basil sorbet that celebrates the bright citrus flavours of Southern Italy.

Panna Cotta alle Amarena features silky vanilla custard complemented by Amarena cherries, cherry sauce and pistachio biscotti.

Crostata di Marmellata is a traditional Neapolitan apricot tart served with vanilla gelato.

Enhancing the experience is a collaboration with Campari, bringing Italy’s aperitivo culture to the venue.

The aperitivo ritual is an integral part of Italian lifestyle, where friends come together over light refreshments and cocktails before a meal.

Throughout the promotion, guests can pair their meal with classic cocktails such as the Negroni, Negroni Sbagliato, Milano Torino, Americano, Campari Spritz and Garibaldi.

The menu is available daily for lunch and dinner until Sept 30.
