THIS month, EQ welcomes the return of Chalet, the celebrated restaurant from the original Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur, for an exclusive pop-up season.
From Aug 13 to 31, guests can revisit an experience remembered for its gracious hospitality, polished tableside service and classic Swiss-European cuisine.
First opened in 1974, the restaurant became one of Kuala Lumpur’s defining dining destinations.
It was a place where anniversaries were celebrated, friendships nurtured and family milestones marked.
Beyond its menu, Chalet was known for creating a sense of occasion through attentive service and elegant tableside preparation.
This limited-time revival brings those traditions back to EQ, offering hospitality that remains timeless.
The menu highlights a thoughtful selection of Swiss and European favourites.
The classic Salade Cesar is prepared tableside in the traditional style, while Raclette Traditionnelle features melted raclette cheese served alongside baby potatoes and cornichons.
Signature mains include the Lobster Thermidor and Canard a la Presse – prepared tableside for two using a traditional duck press, one of European fine dining’s most enduring rituals.
Desserts include Crepes Suzette and Cerises Jubile, each prepared with their signature flambe, alongside Sabayon du Chalet, affectionately remembered as the restaurant’s “dancing dessert”.
To complete the experience, CNJ Trio returns to serenade diners with evergreen melodies.
As a finale, Chalet will present a Merdeka Day Brunch on Aug 31, from noon to 3pm, featuring a semi-buffet of its signature dishes.
The daily dinner seating is from 6pm to 11pm, Mondays to Saturdays, while a special Merdeka Eve dinner is set for Aug 30.
Advance reservations are recommended, via dineateqkl@kul.equatorial.com, 03-2789 7839 or 012-583 5319 (WhatsApp).
