Bluefin tuna demo elevates Japanese seafood buffet experience

Delectable seafood at Kani Kawa.

A masterclass in Japanese craftsmanship featuring a bluefin tuna-cutting demonstration was held at Kani Kawa restaurant in Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur.

Diners were left in awe as chefs expertly prepared the fish weighing over 100kg.

Chefs from several partner restaurants also collaborated to perform the intricate breakdown of the massive fish, highlighting the precision required to handle one of the ocean’s most prized treasures.

To celebrate the occasion, guests were treated to complimentary bluefin tuna sashimi rolls, while the fresh cuts were made immediately available to buffet diners.

The grand display was part of a rotating monthly series among 12 partner restaurants across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang.

Participating restaurants include Sushi Yoshi, Tsukiji Sushi, Yakiniku Tenshin and Hut Dining Buffet.

For example, Jan 10 will see the demonstration at Yakiniku Tenshin in Gurney Paragon Mall, George Town.

Kani Kawa has established itself as a premier destination for seafood and wagyu enthusiasts.

The restaurant’s extensive buffet features seasonal ingredients and different menus for lunch and dinner.

Highlights include a variety of crab specialities such as snow crab, hairy crab and king crab (except for weekday lunch), award-winning A5 Shimomura Wagyu from Aichi, Japan, and a selection of fresh seafood, caviar, ikura (salmon roe), sushi and sashimi.

There are also steamed, fried, grilled and roasted items, as well as a dedicated mini-grill area at each table where guests can do their own barbecueing.

The Kani Kawa buffet is open for lunch and dinner, on weekdays and weekends.

Prices range from RM298++ to RM338++ per adult, with special rates for senior citizens and children.
