YEAR-end is a time for celebration and relaxation. After a long year of hard work, it is the perfect opportunity to unwind with loved ones over good food and company.

This year, One World Hotel’s Christmas buffet is a visual and culinary delight, meticulously crafted by chef de cuisine Muhamad Zahid Zainol Rashid for Cinnamon Coffee House.

With a focus on both presentation and taste, the buffet promises to satisfy even the most discerning palate.

“The buffet will have everything that guests can look forward to during Christmas, including both Western and Asian cuisine,” he said.

One of the notable dishes to look out for is Lamb Braised Short Ribs, which goes through a two-day brining process.

“After that, it is slow cooked for eight hours, and then roasted for 30 minutes.

“It is a long process, but it is enjoyable.

“This dish goes best with our barbecue sauce,” said Muhamad Zahid.

Another highlight is the Poached Norwegian Salmon.

Its poaching broth contains aromatics like celery and onions and the fish is then bathed in iced water to ensure it is not overcooked.

Muhamad Zahid added that guests should try the Roasted Lamb Crown, where the ribs are tied together to form a “crown”.

“This dish, popular in Australia, features lamb that has been roasted for about 45 minutes.

“It goes well with hollandaise or mushroom sauce,” he said.

An interesting addition to the buffet are Korean oysters.

“Korean oysters are smaller and sweeter compared to the regular oysters that we commonly see at a buffet,” Muhamad Zahid said.

After tasting these smaller oysters, we hope to see more of the variety in future.

At the Indian food corner, whole lamb is served with fragrant briyani rice.

Not to be missed are wholesome Malay, Chinese and Japanese dishes which form part of the spread.

The Sekinchan Porridge is a must-try.

“The rice we use for the porridge is from Sekinchan and guests can have their pick of seafood accompaniments such as prawn and squid,” he said.

What buffet is complete without desserts like ice-cream?

Here, these icy treats are made in-house, with interesting flavours such as teh tarik, green tea and coconut.
