Indonesian specialities star alongside Malaysian treats


Sunway Putra Hotel’s ‘Iftar Kuliner Nusantara’ buffet offers guests a taste of Indonesian specialities served alongside Malaysian dishes.

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s “Iftar Kuliner Nusantara” is a Ramadan buffet spread that aims to take guests on a culinary journey to Indonesia.

Indonesia’s ambassador to Malaysia, Hermono, was present at a preview of the hotel’s Ramadan buffet that would be served at the coffeehouse.

The menu’s Indonesian specialities include Soto Betawi originating from Jakarta, Tongseng from Central Java, Ayam Pop Minang from West Sumatra, Nasi Goreng Kambing a la Kebun Sireh and Mie Tek Tek Seafood.

From Malaysia comes over 200 dishes including Paru Goreng Berlado, Rendang Hati Sapi, Ayam Masak Kicap, Udang Masak Lemak Cili Api dengan Bunga Kantan, Rendang Itik dengan Daun Limau Purut, Rendang Tok, an ikan bakar station and whole roast lamb.

The menus, which will be rotated, also include assorted jeruk, keropok and salted fish, soups, satay, lemang and serunding as well as a variety of salads, ulam and kerabu.

For sweet endings, there are local kuih such as tepung pelita, kuih ketayap, kuih lopes, wajik durian, kuih keria, lepat pisang, assorted fresh fruits, cakes, yoghurt, ais kacang and cendol.

At the launch, Sunway Putra Hotel senior general manager Wilfred Yeo announced the opening of an Indonesian restaurant at the hotel, targeted to be launched in the third quarter of this year.

The “Iftar Kuliner Nusantara” dinner is served until April 19, from 6.30pm to 10pm.

The buffet is priced at RM178+ per person, while children aged six to 12 years will get to dine at half price.
