Collaboration to help nurture startups in Sarawak

Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd expects to launch its first collaboration with Sarawak-based startup hub, Startup Borneo, in February next year.

Its group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah says the cooperation was aimed at changing the mindset among young entrepreneurs to venture into business activities, besides contributing to nation-building.

“This would help them to commercialise their business ideas and expand further like Silicon Valley-proven startups, such as Dell, Google, and Facebook, ” he told Bernama in an interview recently.

He says Startup Borneo has 33 registered entities comprising incubators, accelerators and startups, and the programme would be spearheaded by Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Serba Dinamik.

“For the moment, the programme will be launched in Sarawak, followed by a similar approach in Johor Bahru and other states on request, ” he says.

Mohd Abdul Karim says Serba Dinamik, as the anchor under the collaboration, would provide training, initial funding and other requirements needed to nurture the companies to the next level.

“This is a win-win collaboration for Serba Dinamik to help other companies while also expanding its network with the local authority and international companies within the loop.

“The incubator, accelerator or startup will benefit through coaching programmes and financial setups to give them exposure to the global network, ” he says.

He adds that the collaboration would also benefit government agencies as it would serve as a helping hand in spawning homegrown technology companies while international collaborators were poised to expand their networking in the Malaysian market.

In another development, Mohd Abdul Karim says the company has also embarked on hologram technology and aims to be the frontier technology provider.

He explains that hologram technology is a technology that creates a similar identical item in a different location at the same time, which helps to boost efficiency and increase productivity.

“For example, a specialist can train and educate his students in a different part of the world at the same time.

“Politicians or leaders also can be at different locations at the same time to meet their supporters, which is more effective. Consequently, it would increase productivity because this technology is not interrupted by emotion, ” he says.

He adds that the hologram technology is also integrated with the other Industrial Revolution 4.0 technologies such as artificial intelligence to process the data and cloud computing technology to manage the data.

Serba Dinamik is an international energy services group providing engineering solutions to the oil and gas and power generation industries with operational facilities in Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and the United Kingdom. — Bernama
