PETALING JAYA: Lianson Fleet Group Bhd (LFG) has acquired its first offshore heavy lift vessel to expand its marine and offshore service capabilities.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Icon Samudera (L) Inc, acquired the vessel from an unrelated third party on Oct 28.
The vessel, to be renamed LFG Hercules, was built in China in 2024 and is equipped with a main crane capable of lifting up to 4,000 metric tonnes.
It has a deadweight tonnage of 30,087 tonnes, dynamic positioning capabilities and accommodation for up to 160 people. The vessel will be flagged in Port Klang, Malaysia. The seller of the vessel is incorporated in Panama and is unrelated to LFG.
“As the group’s first heavy lift vessel, the vessel complements its existing offshore support vessel operations and builds upon the group’s established experience and track record in vessel ownership, operations, chartering and the provision of offshore services,” it said.
The vessel would also enable the group to explore opportunities in offshore wind turbine installation and related renewable energy projects.
The group said demand for heavy lift services is expected to be supported by the decommissioning of ageing offshore oil and gas infrastructure across Southeast Asia.
LFG expects the acquisition to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026, and beyond through charter income.
