KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd
has partnered with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (Kuskop) to launch Perkasa Halal, a programme aimed at providing digital training to entrepreneurs and cooperatives in the halal sector.
In a statement, Maxis said the programme combines Kuskop’s Halal Sukses initiative with Maxis eKelas Usahawan (eKU), its digital training programme for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Perkasa Halal aims to train 6,000 entrepreneurs by 2029, with 450 participants targeted for further support under the Maxis eKU Accelerator.
Participants will receive training in digital marketing and online revenue generation. Selected entrepreneurs can subsequently join the three-month accelerator programme, which includes further training and group coaching on digitalisation and business formalisation.
Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the programme supports efforts to strengthen MSMEs and develop Malaysia's halal economy under the 13th Malaysia Plan.
“By combining Kuskop’s ecosystem with Maxis’ digital expertise, we can equip entrepreneurs with the skills and opportunities to expand their market reach and take Malaysian halal products beyond Malaysia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Azizul Abdul Rahman said the programme would provide participants with continued training and guidance beyond the initial sessions.
“With Perkasa Halal, we want to ensure this support continues beyond a single training session, so entrepreneurs have the guidance to grow at every stage of their journey.
“We hope this will help halal and cooperative entrepreneurs build the resilience and readiness to compete not just locally, but on the global stage, a reflection of our brand promise, Tomorrow Begins Today, through meaningful impact,” he said.
Graduates will also be able to join the Maxis eKU alumni community, which provides access to development sessions, industry connections and follow-up support.
