KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has launched the 2026 S70 Lite and Prime variants, with prices starting from RM56,800 after an early-bird rebate.
The S70 Lite is priced at RM56,800 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM58,800 in East Malaysia after the RM3,000 rebate, while the Prime costs RM59,800 and RM61,800, respectively.
In a statement, the national carmaker said the rebate applies to customers who book and register their vehicles by Dec 31, 2026. Without the rebate, the Lite is priced from RM59,800 and the Prime from RM62,800 in Peninsular Malaysia. Prices are on-the-road without insurance.
Proton said the two new variants have received more than 10,000 bookings since order books opened on Sept 7.
The S70, meanwhile, has recorded average monthly sales of more than 2,500 units so far this year.
Both new variants are powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-GT engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a torque converter.
They also retain Proton's ride and handling setup and come with three selectable drive modes.
Among the features offered are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which will be available from October, an electric parking brake with auto brake hold, remote engine start and five USB ports. Equipment varies according to variant.
The S70 Lite and Prime also come with six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and rear-seat reminder.
Depending on the variant, the sedan is also equipped with a rear-side radar system comprising blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, door opening warning and rear collision warning.
Proton deputy chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa said the new variants were aimed at making the S70 accessible to a wider group of customers, with a focus on space, comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety.
“With the 2026 Proton S70 Lite and Prime, we are making the S70 accessible to more Malaysians by focusing on the things that matter in everyday ownership — space, comfort, convenience, connectivity and safety.
“Our aim is to ensure customers receive meaningful value from the moment they get behind the wheel and throughout their ownership journey,” he said.
The S70 Lite and Prime are available in Quartz Black, Marine Blue, Space Grey, Snow White and Armour Silver.
