KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has appointed Datuk Badrul Hisham Mohd as its director-general, effective Aug 3, 2026, succeeding Datuk Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir, who has retired.
In a statement today, MPOB said Badrul Hisham has nearly three decades of experience in the administrative and diplomatic service, having been involved in policy formulation, the development of the agricultural and plantation sectors, and strategic management across various ministries.
It said that under Badrul Hisham’s leadership, MPOB will continue to strengthen its three strategic pillars of research and development, namely high income, value addition and sustainable development.
"Furthermore, it will accelerate the commercialisation of technology, increase industry productivity, and solidify Malaysia’s palm oil sustainability agenda on the international stage,” the agency said.
According to Badrul Hisham, MPOB is now at a level of maturity that requires new approaches to ensure the national oil palm industry remains competitive in an increasingly challenging global landscape.
"MPOB will continue to strengthen its role as the leading agency in the development of the national oil palm industry by emphasising innovation, sustainability, transparency, traceability, and a more efficient and responsive service delivery, in line with the aspirations of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities,” he said.
Previously, Badrul Hisham served as the Ministry of Economy’s deputy secretary-general (sectoral) since 2025.
He has also held the position of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s deputy secretary-general and has served in the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, said MPOB.
"Throughout his service, Badrul Hisham played a pivotal role in policy development, resource management, organisational transformation, and the coordination of various strategic initiatives at the national level,” it added. - Bernama
